Help Protect Your Home from Burglary

The Cotswolds Neighbourhood Policing Team are encouraging residents to take a few simple steps to reduce the risk of burglary and help keep our communities safe.

While we continue to patrol local areas and investigate reports of crime, prevention remains one of the most effective ways to deter opportunistic offenders. Most burglars are looking for easy opportunities, and small security measures can make a significant difference.
 

Simple Steps to Protect Your Property

·  Always lock doors and windows, even when you are at home or only going out for a short time.

·  Keep keys out of sight and away from doors and windows.

·  Use timer switches on lights when you are away from home to give the appearance that someone is in.

·  Secure sheds, garages and outbuildings with good-quality locks and consider fitting alarms.

·  Store valuable items out of sight and mark property where possible.

·  Check CCTV, doorbell cameras and security lighting are working correctly.

·  Look out for your neighbours and report any suspicious activity promptly.

Community Reassurance

We understand that reports of burglary can cause concern within the community. Our officers are actively working to prevent crime, gather intelligence, and identify offenders. Visible patrols continue across the area, and we encourage residents to remain vigilant while supporting one another.

If you notice anyone acting suspiciously, unusual vehicles in your neighbourhood, or behaviour that does not seem right, please report it. Your information could be invaluable in helping us prevent crime and protect our communities.
